I love them, both the tension of their first few meetings, the sort of playful rivalry that develops towards the middle of the movie and their cooperation towards the end. There's all the identity porn and angst with Ryan's past and Bill's trauma, there's the way they keep saving each other.
Loyalty! Obsession, even! Guilt! Religious angst!
I bet they both have a million different complexes around sex. Bill's first experience with sex was seeing his family members gang raped and then murdered and Ryan hung out with and was repeatedly backstabbed and tortured by said rapist-murderers. (Backstory Ryan noncon is also something I like to subject him to.) Mutually deeply repressed and awkward but enjoyable fully clothed sex? Is one or both or them desperately trying to take this horrendous, evil, shameful secret (having a crush on a handsome guy who saved your life several times) to the grave?
Supernatural/horror/ghost or undead AU of some kind? Did one/both of them actually die in the fire? Monster hunter Bill? Not-exactly-properly-living Bill who's kept alive by his need for revenge? Vampire (or werewolf) Ryan and Walcott's gang? Ghost Ryan? Ghost sex?? Ghost sex....
Kink stuff: I feel like Bill enjoys being a bit of a brat, poking at Ryan trying to get a rise out of him. His smirking in that scene in Ryan's hotel room (hot) when he's figured out that Ryan won't hurt him... If you want to just write a version of that scene where they fuck, or flirt more explicitly, I feel the energy is there.
Also, the amount of times they hold each other at gunpoint, with wildly varying reactions on both sides! By the second time Ryan holds him up, Bill has figured out that Ryan won't really hurt him and he seems to treat it more like a game he's playing along with, while Ryan remains deadly serious.. as he also does when Bill points the rifle at him later and leaves him in the desert... But Bill wasn't really afraid of him, or seriously thinking about killing him, until he notices the skull necklace, and then he does seriously consider killing him, and Ryan knows it... God, I don't know, the dynamics. The shifting playfulness vs. seriousness of it, the attempts to one-up each other.
What if Bill keeps poking at Ryan, trying to figure out what his deal is, where his boundaries are, and gets right up in his personal space to see what he'll do? (He succeeds in getting a reaction. Is it the one he was expecting?)
Does Bill get kind of turned on by violence? It's the adrenaline... (I feel like he'd also have a morality crisis about this lol)
How different would things be if Ryan's final showdown with the assassins happened before he reached town? What if Bill found him injured afterward, or saw him being ambushed and helped him defend himself? how would this change their dynamic? Ryan would have a harder time being aloof and enigmatic if he's on death's door when Bill tries to interrogate him about the spurs. Alternatively, what if he doesn't find the matching spurs? (Imagine the Drama of Bill finding Ryan unconscious at his family's graves!)
For a Few Dollars More
I love their dynamic, the way Manco comes out ready for a fight and Mortimer is always cordial, though he's quite capable of outwitting Manco when he's uncooperative. Manco is so used to being on his own and having no one but himself to depend on, and thinks he knows everything, and Mortimer calmly shows up, inserts himself into his life, corrects him on stuff he's wrong about, skillfully manipulates him into cooperation and generally drags him kicking and screaming into a partnership he eventually values. I love that arc of Manco going from being irritated by his presence to being dismayed when he leaves.
When does their slashfic-relationship develop? Are they pretty much immediately having a passionate affair despite not fully trusting each other, or is it something that develops along with the rest of their relationship? Do they reunite post-canon, and under what circumstances?
Are there differences in the amount of experience they've had? Manco seems antisocial and possibly repressed, it could be fun to see a more experienced man drive him absolutely crazy. Then again, maybe Mortimer hasn't been with a man before.
Supernatural/weird west AU? Werewolf/vampire (whichever way you want) or other creature stuff? Or, one is an older vampire and one is recently-turned?
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
Dubcon is fine for any of these, I love watching these terrible men do psychological warfare on each other. Manipulation! Power plays! Sex so repressed that it's pretending to be torture! Torture so homoerotic that you accidentally get turned on! As for Blondie, I can see him as either deeply repressed and scared of sex and only horny in the most complicated, sublimated ways; or an unabashed and accomplished slut, or anything in between.
Angel Eyes/Blondie:
This is my main noncon ship. Idk I love the unstoppable force of Angel Eyes' evilness meeting the immovable object of Blondie's deadpan endurance.
What went on between them while Blondie was traveling towards the gold with Angel Eyes' gang? What about other scenarios where he might be forced by circumstances to cooperate with Angel Eyes? How far would he go willingly, and what lines would Angel Eyes cross regardless? Blondie seems very pragmatic about cooperating with him, but he clearly doesn't enjoy it.
Do they know each other when they meet in the movie, or just know of each other? Do they have History (and what would that look like?) Why does Angel Eyes assume that Blondie will drop everything and cooperate with him, even after Angel Eyes kills his former partner?
Sex worker Blondie AU: We know Blondie will happily do questionably-legal things for money, I think this could be an interesting spin on his character. And an interesting origin for his meeting with Angel Eyes, if AE is obsessed with him as the only sexual partner he's considered just as dangerous as him and therefore his equal, and Blondie just sees him as his least favorite source of income and is desperately trying to avoid getting dangerously entangled with his nonsense.
What if Angel Eyes offers his aid to Blondie when he's in a bad situation, on the condition that Blondie offers his own cooperation in return (Blondie is smart enough to be suspicious of what this means, but not in a position to refuse?)
Blondie/Tuco:
They could be having violent unnegotiated rope-bondage torture hatesex every time the camera cuts away without it really changing their canon relationship.
What if Tuco makes Blondie do the desert walk naked?
How does their relationship change over the course of the movie--gleeful scam partners celebrating a successful almost-hanging/burning off some tension, to enemies/exes who still have a thing for each other while wanting to make each other suffer, to tentative allies-for-now horrified by how easy it is to fall back into their old ways....
Do they accidentally awaken rope kinks in each other via deeply homoerotic torture? Does it develop slowly? Does one start out kinky and the other develops the same kinks through repeated homoerotic association?
