Yuletide mini-challenges I've opted in to: Wrapping Paper, Crueltide, Yuleporn, 3 Turtle Doves (Blondie/Angel Eyes/Tuco GBU, Ives/Hart/Boyd Ravenous, Tahren/Ziede/Tenes and Kai/Bashat/Ramad Witch King).
General Likes: Canon divergence, different first meetings, character studies, mental illness/PTSD, injury/disability, gallows humor, hurt/comfort, whump, weird west, horror, ghosts/undead, darkfic, fluff, smut, gen, anything in between. Characters with very intense hard to define relationships.
Shippy/Smutty Likes: Comfort/escapism/stress relief sex, drunk sex, awkward sex, sweet and intimate or rough and aggressive depending on context, anywhere on the spectrum of fully clothed to naked, dubcon and terrible communication when in character, villain-on-protagonist noncon. Poly, friends with benefits or non-standard relationships. Bed sharing, bathing together, morning wood/wet dreams. Omegaverse, especially unconventional (dual genitalia fine, I like fic that gets into the weird speculative biology/social logistics of it all and also just using heat as a sex pollen sort of scenario. Death Rides a Horse:
Fandom likes: the rivalry, the identity porn, the tension, the weird loyalty, the way Ryan will always come to Bill's rescue while refusing to explain literally anything! Being perfectly willing to stand there and let Bill shoot him if it'll give him some closure! Bill's many conflicted emotions about everything! It's so good.
Prompts: Friendship, slash, canon divergence, different first meetings (what if Ryan showed up injured? What would that change?), Bill and Ryan working together. Supernatural AU where one or both of them are ghosts/undead somehow (did they actually die in the fire?) Something about the way Bill just smirks at Ryan the second time Ryan holds him at gunpoint but Ryan kind of expects Bill to kill him right up until the end of the movie (and is fine with that?!!)
Art prompts: Bill and Ryan Staring at each other, holding each other at gunpoint, anything from that scene in Ryan's hotel room, Ryan's multi-purpose knife, Walcott tipping up Ryan's face by the chin, face grabbing in general going either way between Bill/Ryan.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly:
Fandom likes: the dark humor, the delightfully terrible characters, the apocalyptic vibe, the foe yay, the dust and dirt.
Prompts: character studies of any of the main three individually or any combination of them. Why do they all know each other? Love interpretations where all 3 are each other's exes or similar stuff. Evil polyamory stuff, backstabbing, manipulations, rivalry, uneasy truces and cooperation, ill-advised hookups with your evil ex, enemies-to-lovers(-to-enemies-again?) or enemies-to-enemies-who-fuck. Blondie getting tied up and humiliated and tortured etc, he hates it so much and it's very fun to see the untouchable smugness crack. Also fun to see Tuco get one over on either of his 2 rivals.
Art Likes: So many iconic shots in this movie. Nooses! Blondie dying in the desert! Tuco murdering in the bath! Angel Eyes being beautiful and creepy! Blondie and Tuco sharing a horse 2 seconds from their first divorce! why does that rhyme.
Ravenous:
(Fandom-specific DNW: Boyd, or Toffler if you go that route, ending the fic with giving in to Ives/the wonders of cannibalism long-term.)
Fandom likes: the characters!! The wintery horror, the "maybe the real wendigo curse was the colonialism that harmed literally everyone along the way" themes, the interactions between all the characters, the way Fort Spencer is the dustbin where the weirdest army misfits get forgotten and everyone there is a little fucked up in their own way...
Gen likes: slice of life at Fort Spencer! (Is this fluffy or horrible, or both?) I love all these characters. Awkward chess games with Knox, who cheats. Cabin fever. Sharing beds for warmth. Why did Martha and George stay at the mission after it transitioned to a fort? Where does Martha go at the end of the movie, does she have family elsewhere? Cleaves and George getting up to shenanigans. Toffler and Reich's friendship. Anything about Hart or Martha.
Ships (you can go as slashy or platonic as you want):
Hart/Boyd: authority kink bear-lover Boyd yes? I think their friendship is cute and would love to see more of it. What's it like for Boyd when assumed-dead Hart pops back up? I think it's interesting that he's never as afraid of him as he is of Ives even when he knows they're both eating people, and he manages to get through to Hart in the end. I think a monster/monster mercy killing is really hot and I think it would also be hot if they had a kill-Ives-together-and-then-murder-suicide-ourselves pact. Or just hanging out prior to Ives crashing the Fort Spencer party, Hart helping Boyd settle in to the new place, drinking together and Not Talking About trauma, cuddling for warmth.
Ives/Hart/Boyd: Cannibalism polycule. It's going to go so badly. I love their complicated dynamics towards the end of the movie, play with that however you want. Are they all fucking? Is it Hart/Ives and Hart/Boyd with unrequited Ives/Boyd with Boyd still too traumatized by Ives? What are the dynamics? I love the dynamic with Hart making a somewhat lackadaisical effort to convert Boyd to the joys of cannibalism but he gives in the second Boyd pushes back. And Ives' shocked expression when he realizes that Hart picked Boyd over him and Boyd is now ON THE LOOSE WITH A SWORD, AND IT'S NOT FOR EATING PEOPLE WITH!! I also like the concept of Hart and Boyd having been an item since before Ives showed up, and Ives is excited to be Boyd's first time with another man and think he's very innocent then finds out that he and Hart have been having sex this whole time. I just think it would be very funny.
Ives/Toffler: predator/prey type ship. Dramatic irony with them being friends prior to The Licking Scene? Ives hunting down and eating Toffler, as a metaphor for noncon or as literally that? Or, AU where Toffler survives--is Ives trying to convert him to cannibalism? Does he escape? Are Boyd and Hart both alive in this AU or did Ives eat them since he decided to keep Toffler? Does Toffler have memory loss due to being temporarily dead and have to try to figure out what's Ives' deal all over again?
Art Prompts: Ives' expressions and scenery chewing, Boyd being covered in blood and distressed, and Hart/Boyd interactions, really anything you feel like drawing!
Witch King:
(Ignore the trans DNW for this one, there's all kinds of fantasy gender stuff going on in this book and I love it, play with that however you want if you want.)
Fandom likes: The setting, the details of the different cultures, the friendships between characters, all the queer characters, Kai's dark sense of humor. The fact that Kai has A Type in men and everyone seems to know this about him. Kai's type being what it is.
Gen: friendship, worldbuilding, post-canon or something happening between the flashbacks and current timeline. Kai trying to honor the previous life of his most recent body or trying to find its old family to give them some closure. Sanja befriending the witches. Ramad's spy shenanigans. Tenes and Ziede.
Shippy:
Tahren/Ziede is very good, more of seeing their relationship develop or dealing with Tahren's terrible relatives. The two of them getting up to shenanigans, learning about their very different cultures and systems of magic.
Would also be interested in Tahren/Ziede/Tenes, I like Ziede and Tenes' relationship and I'm curious how that might develop, why was Tenes so intimidated(?) by Ziede at first? I could see Tahren and Ziede being poly, maybe already in extended poly relationships with other witches at Avagantrum. Get as worldbuild-y and complicated as you want with it.
Bashasa/Kai is a classic, I love them. More working together in battle or their developing relationship in quiet moments.
Bashat/Kai: the betrayal! The sheer amount of emotional baggage coming with Kai falling for the next ruler who probably is very like Bashasa (what relation to Bashasa is he? They have similar names) and who turns out to be like. The evil and also just way less cool version of Bashasa. What was Bashat's goal originally with this? Did he genuinely like Kai in the beginning or was he always planning to use Kai's affection for him as a way to control him, as he knew their political goals were different? Does he feel unable to live up to his forerunner's image? Does it bother him or is he pragmatic about the different times they live in? Does he believe that building an empire is his mission like defeating the Hierarchs was Bashasa's? Why?? Also I love that despite being taken by surprise by the betrayal itself Kai already secretly had Bashat outmaneuvered politically.
Ramad/Kai is so fun, I love a sweet peppy historian-nerd guy who is also the super shady inspector of Bashat's spies and I love how Kai knowing all this just shrugs and lets him tag along and sort of grudgingly enjoys his company while secretly counter-plotting against him. I love that after Kai saying in the flashbacks that he could never be a mastermind negotiator like Bashasa, he has Ramad and Bashat completely outwitted and politically outmaneuvered in the current timeline. It's so satisfying. I'd love to see a post-canon meeting--is it awkward? Do they have to work together against their common enemies? Does Ramad try to redeem himself? Or, pre-canon, it's interesting to me that Kai recognizes Ramad. When did they meet, what did they think of each other? Did Ramad know about Bashat and Kai's relationship? Or missing scenes from the ghost boat trip, I really liked their dynamic there. What if one of them has to rescue the other either pre- or post-canon. What if Ramad gets poisoned and Kai has to help figure out who did it!

Bashat/Ramad/Kai or some combo: The political intrigue and backstabbing polycule!! what if Bashat has Ramad watch over Kai when he can't--for "protection" and companionship, unneeded and perhaps initially unwanted, but also of course to keep an eye on him and report back to Bashat. To what extent does Kai know this is the arrangement? What shenanigans might they get up to? What if Ramad really does end up rescuing Kai from a sticky situation, or what if Ramad is the one who needs rescuing? What if they uncover some political plot together?
In this scenario, are Bashat and Ramad already in a relationship, or does Ramad have a one-sided fealty crush? Is the relationship a traingle or a V with Kai in the middle? Does Ramad's loyalty to Bashat weaken as he gets to know Kai, or are they on the same page about him per drowning and trapping in an underwater tomb?
